There will never be a dull moment during your Cornwall vacation; that is one thing you can really be sure of. Right in Cornwall are hundreds of activities and places to see together with your whole family. While you are at the Cornwall holiday cottages, you must start listing down your itinerary so you will be able to visit as many places of interest as you can. The Cornwall holiday cottages are very accessible to the popular tourist attractions so you do not have to waste so much time on travelling alone. For families who love nature, you must see the interesting animals at the Newquay Zoo and at the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre especially when you are staying at the Cornwall holiday cottages.
Newquay Zoo
The Newquay Zoo gives you a chance to have a close encounter with 130 species. This would really be something that your family especially your children would be so excited about. That is why the zoo is one of the most popular destinations for tourists visiting Cornwall. If you are an animal lover and almost all children are, this is the place you should go to especially while you are staying at the Cornwall cottages. The zoo first opened in 1969 and houses a wide collection of animals, some of them coming from other parts of the world. Here you will see the African lion, arrow poison dart frogs, Visayan spotted deer, Ural owl and the white-napped crane. There are also the baby black wildebeest, capybara, Philippine spotted deer and the fishing cats. You can try naming an animal and the zoo surely has it. There were many new babies that were born in 2010 and are additions to the zoo. Every now and then, management adds new animals to the zoo so even if there is an entrance fee, it is definitely worth it.
Cornish Birds of Prey Centre
The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre is one place where you can watch a lot of birds and other animals. This is one place that your children will really want to go to. The guided tour of the centre starts at 10 a.m. It takes you around the displays of more than 50 birds of prey and other birds such as the macaws, parrots, pheasants, ducks, kookaburras and even falcons. Here you can also learn the art of falconry. When you are done with the tour, you can go “coarse fishing” in over 3 acres of lake where you can fish all you want. Or otherwise, have some tea at the tea rooms of the bird centre or dine at the café which serves delicious snacks and hot meals. The gift shop is a great place to buy some souvenirs before you head back to your holiday cottages. You would definitely need one whole day to enjoy the many attractions and facilities of the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre.
